BUYERS from as far away as Switzerland and Ireland attended the latest bi-monthly plant and agricultural machinery collective sale at Shrewsbury Auction Centre.

Auctioneers Halls reported a good clearance rate despite the attendance being slightly down due to some farmers making the most of the fine October weather.

Top prices were: £19,000 for a 2006 JCB 535/12.5 with jack legs, £10,500 for a Richard Weston 10 tonne rear discharge muck spreader, £6150 for a Case 4230 tractor, £2950 for an F. G. Wilson 16.5kva generator, £2500 for a folding Cambridge rolls, £2300 for an Ifor Williams HB510 horsebox, £2250 for a restored 1962 Fordson Dexter tractor, £2000 for a gypsy bow top caravan with original furniture, £1980 for an M-registration Toyota Hi-Lux pick-up, £1800 for a Caterpillar 2.5 tonne forklift and £1200 for a Kawasaki 360cc quadbike.

Four furrow reversible ploughs sold up to £1150, a diesel generator made £1,100 and a Graham Edwards livestock trailer made £1000.

In the vintage section, two Ferguson T20 tractors in need of major restoration sold for £500 each and a two wheel drive dumper made £360.

The 1245-lot auction was split into three sections, with small items being sold under cover followed by tractor accessories, feeding, livestock handling equipment and fencing materials and, lastly, tractors, plant, farm machinery and vehicles.
