THE Nottinghamshire RABI fundraising committee held a Burns night supper on 28th January 2012 to raise funds to support farming families across Nottinghamshire.

Hosted by fellow committee member Robert Bower, who took pride in getting dressed up for the occasion with full Scottish dress, entertained guests with jokes and tales before blessing the Haggis and serving to guests.

Commenting on the evening’s success was Peter Blundell, chairman of the Nottinghamshire RABI committee. "We are delighted to announce that from an intimate gathering on Burns night weekend we raised £450 for the RABI," he said. "It just goes to show that even small events are worthwhile to get involved with and we pleased to be supporting our fellow farmers who require our help in times of need, hardship or distress."

The RABI is a vital support service to members of the farming community and has been doing so for over 150 years. The charity provides practical and financial assistance to farmers, farm workers and their family members, spending nearly £2 million pounds a year on items such as mobility equipment, adaptions around the home and emergency grants when unforeseen circumstances occur such as flooding, animal disease or a sudden death in the family.

Anyone wanting to access further information on the work of RABI or offer support can contact East Midlands regional officer, Milly Wastie on 07525 323450 or by emailing milly.wastie@rabi.org.uk

If you know anyone who may require assistance from RABI can call the confidential helpline on 01865 727888 or visit www.rabi.org.uk
