Stone keep those tractors rolling

Four genuine tractors from a local farm are expected to attract keen interest when they go under the hammer at auctioneers Halls’ monthly collective auction at The Gallops, Stanklyn lane, Stone, near Kidderminster on May 25. The tractors include a 2003 Case MX170 4wd, a 2002 Case MX170 4wd with Tremble Easy Ride and GPS, a Y registration Case MX170 4wd and a T registration Case CX90 4wd.

PRIME minister David Cameron and Deputy PM Nick Clegg visited CNH's manufacturing plant in Basildon this week.
They were welcomed by Franco Fusignani, Head of New Holland Agricultural Equipment and of CNH International, Eduardo Teodorani-Fabbri, Head of CNH Corporate Development, and Derek Neilson, Head of Agricultural Manufacturing.
Machinery sale braves April showers

PERSISTENT April showers didn’t dampen the mood at Halls’ successful monthly collective machinery auction at The Gallops, Stanklyn Lane, Stone, near Kidderminster on April 27 when a good-sized crowd braved the wet weather.
Best price of the day was £10,600 for a John Deere 6210 4wd tractor and other prices in this section included £7100 for a John Deere 2650 2wd tractor with 245m loader and £1350 for a Manitou forklift.
Consultation muddies the water

GOVERNMENT proposals to withdraw water abstraction licences without paying compensation are extremely concerning, said the NFU today (May 8).
Defra’s consultation on the Water Act 2003 contains proposals that could leave farmers without a licence to abstract water, and no right of compensation.
Farmer gets on his bike for charity

LINCOLNSHIRE county NFU branch chairman David Armstrong will be swapping his tractor for a bike at the end of May to raise money for three charities.
He is aiming to ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats for RABI (Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution), LRSN (Lincolnshire Rural Stress Network) and St Barnabas’ Hospice.
David, who farms in Bardney, will be accompanied by family members during the ride which he will start on May 27 and hopes to complete on June 7.

THE first round of the British Tractor Pullers Association’s 2012 championship is set to take place at the Shakey Super Pull on June 9-10.

Red Tractor has launched ‘Team RT’, a countrywide initiative to showcase how food makes its way from Red Tractor farms to the Olympics.
Aimed at school children, it showcases the great work and quality standards that go into producing food that is being supplied on the world’s-stage, the 2012 Olympic Games.
NFU Legal board chairman re-elected

FRED Gooder, a farmer and grower from North Yorkshire, has been re-elected as chairman of the NFU Legal Board.
Trevor Foss, a former county chairman, who runs a mixed farm of around 200 acres in Northamptonshire and writes for NFU Countryside Magazine, was elected vice chairman.
