Househam’s new automatic hydraulic axles

The new Househam designed automatically adjustable axle track with the air ride suspension.

HOUSEHAM Sprayers have launched their new generation, automatically adjusted axles, delivering a programmable track width from 68-80 inches.

With the advancement in computerised technology and new heavy-duty electronic sensors, the Househam designers have come up with an axle system that is totally controllable from the cab using their revolutionary TMC (Total Machine Control) system.

Operators can choose to manually or automatically alter the axle width from the cab seat, while a constant axle width readout can be viewed on the TMC terminal screen. In automatic mode a new axle width can be pre-set on the touch screen while stationary. The system will then automatically adjust the axle width once the machine is moving, avoiding excess component stress.

The introduction of the versatile axle system is a big bonus to contractors or farmers who have a range of tramline widths on their crops. It offers a simple, quick and reliable change of track without the need for the operator to leave the cab.

“We are delighted with the response to the new system and have already taken three orders for self-propelled sprayers incorporating the design,” said managing director Robert Willey.

The Househam range of self propelled and trailed sprayers are all manufactured at the company’s factory in Lincolnshire.

Sweepex takes the chore out of Sweeping

Wrights Farming Register Newspaper News Image
Broadwood’s SweepEx is quickly and easily attached on the front of a JCB Loadall and sweeping up is completed in minutes.

WITH the financial pressures on agriculture necessitating farms having to cut back on staff, more and more farmers are using equipment instead of labour to get jobs done.

Now, DL Lemon, an arable farm in Wilton, near Marlborough, has purchased the Broadwood SweepEx to sweep up its grain stores and yard.

Run by David Lemon and his father with the help of a three-strong workforce, the 4000-acre farm grows wheat, barley, rape and naked oats. Crops are stored in three grain stores to dry out prior to being sold to end users such as cereal manufacturers, barley maltsters and animal compound feed manufacturers.

“Ten years ago, we employed more staff and sweeping up the grain stores and yard was undertaken manually,” said David. Now we have had to cut overheads, so to make life easier we rely on equipment to undertake work that was previously done by hand. Instead of it taking 20 minutes to manually sweep a grain store, Broadwood’s SweepEx does the job in just three.”

It is excellent on Challow floors, as it creates no dust particles, which is particularly useful when dealing with grain. DL Lemon also uses Broadwood’s SweepEx around the grain stores and to brush up mud in the yard deposited by the farm’s tractors.

The tough system is able to withstand the severest environments as the broom heads and mounting hardware are manufactured from high tensile steel, with a heavy-duty powder coat finish. The easily and quickly replaceable hi-grade polypropylene brush section has up to 11 rows of 30cm bristles for effective sweeping. These very durable bristles will provide around 450 miles of sweeping before they need changing.

SweepEx is available from exclusive UK and European distributor, Broadwood International via its
appointed agents.
